I'm trying to move a file I have on the Cluster (UNIX) to my local computer (Windows 11) and have tried different solutions for the past 1 hour without any success.
This is the code I'm using:
scp roger89#rackham3:/home/roger89/cat1.txt C:/Users/Roger/Desktop
And the error message I keep getting is:
ssh: Could not resolve hostname c: Name or service not known lost connection Connection to rackham3 closed.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I tried to login to phpMyAdmin in WAMP + Windows 10. But I got the following errors when I tried to login as root ( no password )
#2002 - No connection could be made because the target machine
actively refused it. — The server is not responding (or the
local server's socket is not correctly configured).
mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No connection could be made
because the target machine actively refused it.
It will be great if someone can help me out. Thanks.
PS : The WAMP icon is Orange in colour
PS 2 : I closed Skype from Task manager using End Task
Open my.ini file by left clicking wampp and opening MySQL menu. Search socket and write
socket = /tmp/mysql.sock
And save it.
I have a bash script which uses rsync to pull down backups of my server to an offline server I have running Ubuntu.
But it does not seem my offline server wants to run this script right. And the issue I get when I run it manually run it is,
Host key verification failed.
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [Receiver]
rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(226) [Receiver=3.1.1]
But heres the thing, the host key is fine and works when I SSH. So logging on to my offline server and from there logging into the remote server works without any issues.
Here is where the issue gets very odd, the bash script works (when asked to run via webmin) after I have SSHed into the offline server. I dont have to do anything else, just login to the remote server and the bash script will work.
That is what I dont understand, if the host keys are not configured right, then they should not work at all, but they do, once I have logged into the server?
Thanks,
Try to login with ssh -a to prevent your ssh-agent to be forwarded. You probably use an identiy in your agent to authenticate to the target Server. This authentication will not work if your ssh-agent ist not present.
When I try to connect to my postgresql database with psql I receive the error message:
D:\>psql -U postgres
psql: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5112"?
A similar error I get when using createdb:
createdb: could not connect to database template1: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
next two lines are identical to the psql error.
I can start pgadminIII without problems and access my databases. when I check the properties of the connection it uses port 5432. When using process explorer I see about 5 postgresql processes, though none accessing port 5432. The solutions I found in this forum are about linux/osx platforms, which I am not able to translate into a windows solution.
Could anybody tell what is wrong/what I am doing wrong and suggest a solution?
Thanks for your time.
I set up a new Perforce free service on my home server. I am able to connect to the service on the same machine using the visual client targetting localhost:1666. When I try to connect from my desktop I am unable to connect. I originally tried my public IP which is forwarded to my server, but when that didn't work I tried targetting my server locally as Server: "192.168.1.105:1666" In either case I get a similar error of:
Connect to server failed; check $P4PORT.
TCP connect to 192.168.1.105:1666 failed.
connect: 192.168.1.105:1666: WSAETIMEDOUT
On my server "p4 set" shows:
C:\Users\Hephaestus>p4 set
P4EDITOR=C:\Windows\SysWOW64\notepad.exe (set)
P4PASSWD=13C72FC3B6AE5DF224D835D7A26332A0 (set)
P4PORT=1666
P4ROOT=D:\p4
P4USER=Hephaestus (set)
P4_1666_CHARSET=none (set)
On my desktop "p4 set" shows:
P4EDITOR=C:\Windows\SysWOW64\notepad.exe (set)
P4PORT=50.137.244.199:1666 (set)
P4USER=jelamb (set)
I've also worked through most of this: http://answers.perforce.com/articles/KB/2960/. I tried turning my server's firewall off completely.
I've spent hours trying to figure this out and I'm just stumped. Why would I be unable to connect?
I ended up finding out that for whatever reason, adding the config stuff as system variables through Windows didn't do what I needed. Adding them via p4 command-line commands did the trick. Weird, but it works now :/.
I just installed postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I'm having trouble starting the service and connecting to a database.
After a successful installation I've tried the following based on similar postings.
1) Looked for "Start Server" under Start > All Programs > PostreSQL 9.1 and could not find it.
2) Tried starting the server from the command line
pg_ctl.exe -D "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.1\bin\data"
This gave me the error:
could not create lock file 'postmaster.pid': Permission denied
I have administrative rights, and there is not postmaster.pid file either in the bin or data directories.
3) Next I tried starting the Service from Admistrative Tools by right clicking on the postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 Service and selecting Start. I received the message:
The postgresql-9.1.4-1-windows-x64 Service on local computer started
and stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use
by other services or programs.
The Event Viewer showed the error as Timed out waiting for server startup
4) I figured there the data in the data directory was probably and initial database, but just in case I ran "initdb" and got:
If you want to create a new database system either remove or empty the
directory c:\program files\postgreSql/9.1/data or run initdb with an
argument other than c:\program files\postgreSql/9.1/data
4) And just for fun I Started pgAdminIII, right clicked on "PostreSQL 9.1(localhost:5432)", selected Connect, entered password, and got:
could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is
the server running on host "localhost" (::1) and accepting TCP/IP
connections on port 5432?
Does anybody have a suggestion?
Thanks.
«"could not create lock file 'postmaster.pid': Permission denied"»
Do not look any further, Postgres cannot start if it can't create this temp file. If it is not created, you evidently cannot find it if you look for it on the disk. Your DATA directory has been created so no need to re run initdb again and if you try to use pgadmin it complains that it cannot connect to Pg -- which is not running.
I am not familiar with windows but found out where postmaster.pid is to be created you will probably find out why Postgres cannot create this file.
Hope it helps.
