I want to migrate one of my Windows app to Mac.
As we know, Windows app help file format is .chm.
Does Mac app has special format?
or just the format html?

Have you read the documentation? It's a simple static HTML site embedded as a resource. You also use the Help Indexer app (part of Xcode Tools) to create the needed index file then you set a couple of keys in your Info.plist file to tell your app it's there.

I'm having problem with changing header of the Hub Control in Windows Universal app. I'm attaching screenshots so you would be able to see how it looks like.
As you can see at screenshot I changed header text to "Test Header" in XAML and I can see all changes in VS Designer. Problem is when I compile the app and deploy it on device or emulator because than header still contains default text "application name"...
What am I doing wrong?? I tried to creat new project, I was searching for "application name" string or some binding in my project but with no luck... :( Please help guys because I'm struggling with this for a few days now and I have no idea what to do.

Remove the x:Uid="Hub" from the Hub control.
<Hub x:Name="Hub" Header="Test Header"/>
That way it won't redirect all your strings to the Strings\en-US\Resources.resw file (it is part of the shared project)
If you want to keep it in, then just edit that file and rename the key to anything you like.
Is there any possibility to open word or pdf file in Windows Phone ?
I get the file byte data from specified API, and I want to have possibility in my application to preview the file...

As far as i know there are no open source pdf viewer implementations for WP7/8 available.
You could try to get ComponentOne for free or with an massiv discount if you are an registered windows phone developer. Have a look at http://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/featured/partners

I'm getting quite a few emails with logs in XML format attached and I want to associate my own app with the XML file type on Windows Phone Mango, overwriting the default xml viewer.
If overwriting isn't possible I can get the logs generated with a custom extension. I would then need to associate the extension with my app same way Adobe Reader does it for PDFs.
Is this possible?

Currently there is no way to set your app as the default viewer for any file extension. The closest you can get at the moment is using extensibility. However, these are limited to Photos, Music and Search and not custom extensions. (Even then, your app wouldn't be the default viewer, but it would be accessible from the respective hubs).
I have a simple vb6 editor type application which has a richtextbox as the editor page. It allows users to key in stuff and the store it into a file which will keep all the text in RTF stored as CDATA in xml.
When you load back the file, it will read it off the xml and load back the rtf. We allow for unicode editing, but my problem is I have a user which is using Windows XP, and they have some problems reading the chinese characters. They show up as gibberish in their pc.
It displays fine in both mine and a coworker's. I've already checked that they have the proper regional language and settings in their system. The install files for east asian language is already checked. And they can see chinese words on websites and even type them out.
I feel like I'm missing something here but I'm at a lost on what to check next? Any ideas on what I could test or check next?

That is weird. Try confirming that your user have the same version of RICHTXT32.OCX ?
Could be a problem with font?
Try using font that supports unicode characters (Arial Unicode).
Or try going to a website with chinese characters and paste it into richtextbox, save it to a file and try loading it from the file.

well they should because i packed the app in vs installer setup package.
and for fonts, it's sim sun, and i've already checked with the users that they do have the sim sun fonts under window/fonts.
Btw i've already updated that the data is actually stored in xml under CDATA, although the rtf chunk is kept as it is.
okie, this seems to be the solution although i don't know why. in my msi setup file i've included the riched.dll so when i installed it in, the dll acts up and screw up my chinese character in the richtext control.
but when i repack to exclude that dll file and reinstall using that setup, it seems to work now...
