open eps files in GIMP2 - ghostscript

I have installed GIMP 2.8.10 and Ghostscript 9.14 for Windows X64. I am using windows 8.1 with update 1. I have also set the environment variable for GS_PROG to gswin64c. But I still cannot open eps files using GIMP. So how to solve the issue?
thanks

Try to set your GS_PROG environment variable to C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.14\bin\gswin64.exe

Can't seem to run tesseract from command line despite adding PATH

I'm trying to add tesseract to be able to install pytesseract.
I use Windows 7.
I add this path to my PATH environmental variable
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tesseract-OCR\tesseract.exe
From the command line if I run
tesseract DMTX_screenshot.png out
OR
tesseract
I'm getting
tesseract is not recognized as an internal or external command.
Here is a copy-paste of the a portion of my environmental variable:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tesseract-OCR\tesseract.exe;C:\Users\Moondra\Anaconda_related\Anaconda\geckodriver.exe;
Any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?
Thank you.
The PATH variable should include directories only, not files, such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Tesseract-OCR.
The solution is the following you have to add cd first ...
Example:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Tesseract-OCR
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tesseract-OCR> tesseract --version
So It seems there are two version for Windows, 4.00 and 3.05 -- 4.00 is still buggy.
I installed the 3.05 version and seems to work fine now.
Here is where I got the 3.05 version.
https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/tesseract/wiki
After adding tesseract to PATH, make sure you restart your PC.
It only worked after the restart.
Just add the folder to the Path under Windows (not sure with Win7):
Control Panel > System and Security > System >
Advanced system settings > Advanced > Environment variables > PATH > New
I was also having this problem initially. Don't install tesseract via pip install tesseract.
Go to https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/tesseract/wiki and then download latest version for your computer and install that.
Then type sysdm.cpl and add the directory where tesseract.exe is present to env. variables.
for eg: C:\Program Files\Tesseract-OCR
This solved it for me.
Add C:\msys64\mingw32\bin to PATH variable in case you've installed it using pacman or msys2.
Go to the location where you have installed Tesseract-OCR on the terminal and then type tesseract -v. This worked for me.

ImageMagic not working on windows

As this blog suggested
blog
My Environment
windows 7 64-bit
xampp 5.6.12 32-bit
I installed ImageMagic for windows (32bit)
Setted environment path of ImageMagic and MAGICK_HOME variable
Downloaded the php_imagick.dll and pasted in C:\xampp\php\ext and the file name started with CORE_RL_* in C:\xampp\apache\bin
Now when apache starts it shows error
the programme can't start because VCOMP110.DLL is missing from your computer. try reinstall program to fix this problem
I don't know why this error occurs.
Also I installed vcredist_x86.exe
You are getting the following error message:
The program can't start because VCOMP110.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
This means that you did not install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012. You can download it from this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
I am late here, but maybe it helps someone, you can check the Architecture using phpinfo().
ImageMagick + Imagick + PHP on XAMPP
Environment
Windows7
32bit OS
XAMPP v3.2.1
Step for install
Install Imagick (PHP Extention).
Install DLL of extension module.
Setting DLL.
1. Install ImageMagick (PHP Extention) under C:/
Install PHP Extention.
You must install correct version which corresponded to your OS version. i installed 32 bit version ImageMagick-6.9.1-10-Q16-x86-dll.exe.
Confirm extension_dir of phpinfo(); below is ok.
extention_dir C:/xampp/php/ext
2. Install DLL & Setting
2-1. Install PHP Extension
Install by PECL
!! Then confirm phpinfo(); you should select install.
Case of enabled > php_imagick.dll, TS
Case of disabled > php_imagick.dll, NTS
2-2. DLL file move into extension folder
php_imagick.dll in download folder move to C:/xampp/php/ext
2-3. CORE_RL_* move into Apache binary folder
CORE_RL_* file move into C:/xampp/apache/bin
2-4. Add extension to php.ini
You should write extension=php_imagick.dll on php.ini ( !! Write under [PECL] ).
3. Setting Environment
Add MAGICK_HOME to your environment PATH.
Try phpinfo();
4. convert image on CLI
>convert wizard: wizard.jpg
>convert wizard.jpg win:
But in this state, ImageMagick number of supported formats is 0 and ImageMagick supported formats is no value so you should do below.
All *_.dll file in C:/ImageMagick-6.9.1-Q16/modules/coders copy to C:/xampp/apache/bin
All *_.dll file in C:/ImageMagick-6.9.1-Q16/modules/filters copy to C:/xampp/apache/bin

Tizen-sdk-for-wearable-setup Installation issue because of JAVA HOME

System Configuration:
OS - Windows 8
System type - 64-bit Operating System , x64-based processor
I have installed java-8 and set JAVA_HOME as
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0
I am getting error as below image while Tizen-sdk-for-wearable-setup Installation.
error - Cannot execute Java even if it was installed. Check environment variable or Java version(over 1.6) please.
I tried installing after JDK 7 both 32 bit and 64 bit and setting JAVA_HOME - Program Files path and Program Files (x86) path both also it didn't worked.
I have a another system in which the Issue didn't occurred.
System Configuration :
OS - Windows 7 Enterprise
System Type - 32 bit operating system.
Installed Java - C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45
JAVA_HOME set as - C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.6.0_45
Now there may be many chances why installation is not getting in my win-8 64 bit.
64 bit JAVA support is not available.
I am not sure about ~ symbol in JAVA_HOME path but it may be to escape space between Program Files and I have not set java home using this symbol.
In win-8 64 bit I have 2 folders. Program Files and Program Files (x86) , I am not sure whether to use ~ or " " to set JAVA_HOME and for 32 bit java or 64 bit java installed.
May be only java 1.6 is supported right now.
I searched and found similar issues :
I find this link but not able to get why its advised to set the system environment Path Variable to 'c:\windows\system32'.
In this link its advised to use InstallManager.jar via cmd.exe.
I can try each possible assumption till it works but hoping to find a solution with proper reason why I am getting this error.
If any one knows how should I work this out please help.
At last solve the Issue.
Installed jdk1.7.0_51 (I think currently JAVA 8 is not supported).
Set the JAVA_HOME as C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jdk1.7.0_51 (thanks to #Michael comment).
This link: https://answers.madewithmarmalade.com/questions/16878/cant-install-tizen-sdk-on-windows-8-64-bit.html solved for me the problem of Tizen SDK installation:
Change directory to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\tizensdk_TimeStampOfInstallationInvocation
java -jar InstallManager.jar
My system: Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Java's version installed (64 bit):
g:>echo %JAVA_HOME%
c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_05
g:>echo %CLASSPATH%
c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_05\jre\lib
Added to PATH: c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_05\bin\
(Tizen IDE and "Hello World" example run just fine.)
I encountered the same problem and finally I realised that my version of Tizen installer is 64bit but I installed 32bit java in my computer. Then I downloaded 32bit Tizen installer and everything was fine.
I encountered the same problem, and it was solved by placing the Java path in the beginning of the system path ! weird.. but worked :)
You must include, depending on whether you downloaded the x86 or x64 Tizen installer, C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin or C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin in the PATH environment system variable. You can't use java 8. See this oracle page for instructions on setting environment variables. I have read some others mention that they put the entry at the very beginning of the PATH variable. I think this would only matter if you also had an entry for java 8, but better safe than sorry.

PDF print using powerbuilder 10.5/Ghostscript

Can anyone pls tell me how to use ghostscript to print files using powerbuilder 10.5
what files I need to add. what version of ghostscript I need to use. different version for vista/xp/win 7.
Assuming that what you're looking for is printing via datawindow’s SaveAs command to PDF...
ll_rc = dw_report.saveas(ls_filename, PDF!, false)
...you'll need Ghostscript installed (available) in two locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\gs
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\Shared\PowerBuilder\gs
The second folder is for the PowerBuilder IDE.
I’m using Ghostscript version 8.7.1. It works fine with PowerBuilder 11/12/12.5 in both Win XP and Win 7 environments.
Not sure about PB10.5 and more recent GS versions. The older Ghostscripts can be found here:
http://downloads.ghostscript.com/public/
Hope this helps.

Android studio doesn't start

I just download Android Studio for Windows 7, the wizard went ok up to the end but now when I click on the shortcut or on the .exe to start the program nothing happens, no error, no new window, it's seems like it is doing nothing. Do you have any suggestion?
It's a bug of Android Studio 0.1v
You should add JAVA_HOME to the system environment variables.
http://tools.android.com/knownissues#as0.1
Open Start menu > computer > System Properties > Advanced System
Properties
In the Advanced tab > Environment Variables, add new system
variable JAVA_HOME that points to your JDK folder, for example C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21
Install latest Java Development Kit.
Set path in system variables for Java (ie *C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\bin*)
Set JDK_HOME system variable (ie *C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21*)
If not working, set JAVA_HOME in system variable too (ie *C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21*)
If not working, check if you don't have spaces at the ends of the lines in system variables (PATH, JDK_HOME, JAVA_HOME)
You don't have to restart computer after changing system variables, just reload command prompt (if you are using it).
If it still not working, you probably have java.exe in C:/Windows/System32/. Rename it, restart command prompt and type java -version to check if you are using correct version of JDK.
I've posted tutorial how to fix Android Studio with screenshots on my blog.
I have had a similar problem with Android Studio 1.0 in windows 7 x64. When I ran studio64.exe it flashed the android studio logo and it disappeared immediately. Also I tried
studio64.exe > error.log
to figure out possible errors. JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25 environment variable was correctly setted.
Finally I decided to uninstall all Java versions (I had a mess of different java versions installed), both jdk and jre and reinstalled last version jdk 1.8.0_25. My problem was solved.
Regards,
Sometimes it might get stuck in memory. Open task manager, terminate android stuido. Open it up again.
If you install new the version of android studio.
It requires new jdk 1.8.
Just install the latest jdk 1.8 and android studio will work without the need to manually edit any environment variables.
You have to add a new system variable named ANDROID_STUDIO_JDK or JDK_HOME with the path to your JDK install folder, such as C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\
I had the same exact problem and did try to do every thing manually nothing worked except for this command when I finished it finally launched. Open CMD with administrator if possible then put the following command:
set path="$PATH":C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\bin
Then just try to launch it should work.
This is the only thing that worked for me.
Make sure you have Java 1.8 (JDK) or higher and update java_home and path to this version.
I did every tips but i checked AS requirements and updated jdk do 1.8.xx
It's possible there is a problem with your username (and name of the user folder). It shouldn't contain non-latin letters.
I had solved my problem (no response to an attempt to run Android studio) when I tried running the application as another Windows user (with name that consists of English letters only)
I got the same problem, but with no error message.
I found a studio.bat file and dig in it. There, I found some tips:
I found out thet the variable suggested in a previous post is incorrect.
ANDROID_STUDIO_JDK is no good.
STUDIO_JDK is the one.
Also, just to make the things/solution worst to corner,
I've uninstalled jre and jdk then reinstall jdk only.
The setup variables are like this:
JAVA_HOME is now pointing to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_172\bin
JDK_HOME is pointing to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_172
STUDIO_JDK is pointing to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_172
It's a mess but it's working...
Is it because I uninstalled/reinstalled java sdk and jre? or just the env. variables? who knows :)
Specs:
i5 with 4gig ram
win 10 32bit
In addition to following the steps pointed out by Tigris I also had to run the Android Studio with Administrative rights. Not sure why but I just made it in a few minutes ago.
Follow the steps here: http://tools.android.com/knownissues#as0.1
Run Android Studio as Admin
There is Another Issue
http://tools.android.com/knownissues
open a "cmd.exe" (command prompt), cd to the android-studio\bin folder and run "studio.bat". You will most likely see an error: for example b/55267 is about the option -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing not being recognized. Report the error, remove the line from the studio.exe.vmoptions or studio64.exe.vmoptions and it should now work.
There could be a process still running in the background that would need to be killed in the task manager. The name of the process is studio64.exe (at least that's the name on my machine). Could be because I am running a 64-bit OS. After killing this process, try to run Android Studio again, and it should work.
If your path and/or environment variables are not pointing to the correct JDK, things won't work properly.
A rock solid solution, especially if you must have multiple JDKs installed (e.g. Java 6/7/8) is to create a batch file to launch Android Studio.
Create a new file called studio.bat and place this somewhere outside the Android Studio installation, e.g.
c:\mydevstuff\launchers\studio.bat
(if you put the batch file anywhere in the android-studio folder, then you'll have problems when updating Android Studio).
Put the following code in the new batch file:
#echo off
REM Can make paths relative to SCRIPT_PATH if necessary
set SCRIPT_PATH=%~dp0
set ANDROID_STUDIO_JDK=<JDK Path>
set JAVA_HOME=<JDK Path>
set PATH=<JDK Path>\bin;%PATH%
cd <android-studio Install Path>\bin
start studio64.exe
Replace studio64.exe with studio.exe if you need the 32-bit version.
Replace
<JDK Path>
with the path to your JDK, e.g.
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_25
Replace
<android-studio Install Path>
with the path to your Android Studio installation, e.g.
C:\Program Files\Android\android-studio
Now you can just run the batch file to start Android Studio.
Additional:
If you want to pin to the Taskbar, then create a shortcut to the batch file and then change it's target to:
cmd.exe /c "<path to bat>\studio.bat"
Then pin this shortcut to the Taskbar by drag-and-drop.
You can also set it's icon from the original Android Studio studio.exe file.
I ran into this problem and these steps fixed it.
Remove ALL older JRE / JDK versions
Set values for JDK_HOME & JAVA_HOME to path of JDK install
if you use android studio version 2.3.3 you should have JDK with version 1.8 in the system environment values ,
to add it
click on Computer (in windows 7)
System properties
Advanced system settings (at the right)
Advanced (tab)
environment variables button
and edit the value of name JAVA_HOME to the file which contains jdk 1.8
if you don't have this variable make a new one
