How do I remove mark down in discord.py?
I was making an eval command but I realized that sending it with markdown eg. '```py print("example code")```', breaks it.
I want to make it easier for me and the other admin/mod to use it for debugging purposes in my bot.
#client.command()
async def eval(ctx, *, code):
out, err = io.StringIO(), io.StringIO()
sys.stdout = out
sys.stderr = err
await ctx.channel.trigger_typing()
await aexec(code)
results = out.getvalue()
errors = err.getvalue()
await ctx.send(embed = discord.Embed(title = "Eval", description=f"Output Is \n```bash\n{results}```"))
await ctx.send(embed = discord.Embed(title = "Code", description=f"Input Is \n```py\n{code}```"))
the above code is what I've tried so far..
I've been playing with your code for the past hours, I wanted to figured it out :P
This is the only way i could access the code when there was markdown in the command input.
#client.command()
async def eval(ctx, *, code):
raw = f'{ctx.message.content}'[12:-3] # Get rid of markdown + py and last 3 ```
#Might want to add if statements in case the input doesn't include py / something else.
print (raw) # Testing purpose
out, err = io.StringIO(), io.StringIO()
sys.stdout = out
sys.stderr = err
await ctx.channel.trigger_typing()
exec(raw) # no need for await
results = out.getvalue()
errors = err.getvalue()
await ctx.send(embed = discord.Embed(title = "Eval", description=f"Output Is \n```bash\n{results}```"))
await ctx.send(embed = discord.Embed(title = "Code", description=f"Input Is \n```py\n{raw}```"))
await ctx.send(embed = discord.Embed(title = "Errors", description=f"Errors are \n```py\n{errors}```")) #Added this output to see errors
This is discord py by the way, so what the prob is that my bot is in multiple servers, so if i set the channel to something in another server, all the servers which the bot is in, if members join or leave, the message comes only in that 1 server which has it set, so how can i make it that its seperate for all servers
btw heres my code:

this code doesn't play the music and the song queue and idk how to fix it to help me please
I need it so that it can play music and preferably not have the queue ANd i need it so that it can
I have code for my music bot that will play the video using the title of the song. It also has a working queue feature. Try copy-pasting this code into your cog, and it should work for you without any issues.

I've got this code for my discord bot to temporarily mute people:
#bot.command()

guild = ctx.guild
mutedRole = discord.utils.get(guild.roles, name="Muted")

embed.add_field(name="Reason:", value=reason, inline=False)
embed.add_field(name="Time for the mute:", value=f"{time}{d}", inline=False)
await ctx.send(embed=embed)
if d == "s":
await asyncio.sleep(time)
if d == "m":
await asyncio.sleep(time*60)
if d == "h":
await asyncio.sleep(time*60*60)
if d == "d":
await asyncio.sleep(time*60*60*24)
await member.remove_roles(role)
embed = discord.Embed(title="Unmute (temp mute expired) ", description=f"Unmuted -{member.mention} ", colour=discord.Colour.light_gray())
await ctx.send(embed=embed)
return
However, my bot reboots itself every 12-24 hours, and if someone is currently temp muted while the bot reboots, they never get unmuted, as the bot forgets that it ever muted them, so they remain muted until I manually unmute them. Is there a way so I can make it so the bot still remembers to unmute them, even if the bot reboots during their mute period? If so, please could you show me what I should add in my code to do so. Thank you!
Note: in case it helps, I host my bot via GitHub and Heroku, in case that helps with anything.
You can do it with a text file, but it won't be much accurate:
#bot.command()
async def tempmute(ctx, member: discord.Member, time: int, d, *, reason=None):
guild = ctx.guild
mutedRole = discord.utils.get(guild.roles, name="Muted")
if not mutedRole:
mutedRole = await guild.create_role(name="Muted")
for channel in guild.channels:
await channel.set_permissions(mutedRole, speak=False, send_messages=False, read_message_history=True)
await member.add_roles(mutedRole)
embed = discord.Embed(title="TempMuted!", description=f"{member.mention} has been tempmuted.", colour=discord.Colour.light_gray())
embed.add_field(name="Reason:", value=reason, inline=False)
embed.add_field(name="Time for the mute:", value=f"{time}{d}", inline=False)
await ctx.send(embed=embed)
if d == "s":
mutetime = time
if d == "m":
mutetime = time*60
if d == "h":
mutetime = time*60*60
if d == "d":
mutetime = time*60*60*24
with open("TXT_FILE_PATH", "w+") as mutetimef:
mutetime.write(mutetime)
while True:
with open("TXT_FILE_PATH", "w+") as mutetimef:
if int(mutetimef.read()) == 0:
await member.remove_roles(mutedRole)
embed = discord.Embed(title="Unmute (temp mute expired) ", description=f"Unmuted -{member.mention} ", colour=discord.Colour.light_gray())
await ctx.send(embed=embed)
return
else:
mutetime -= 1
mutetimef.seek(0)
mutetimef.truncate()
mutetimef.write(mutetime)
await asyncio.sleep(1)
You also need to create a .txt file which this is being saved in. As I said this won't be too accurate but it works. Also you have to define variable or something which looks after the restart if this is running and if not it runs it
So, I'm making a modmail bot for my discord server. But when I run, the bot can connect but when I send a test messange in the bot DM, I receive this error: AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'send'.
I'm using python 3.9.1 on Arch Linux. Here is my code:
import discord
from discord.ext.commands import Bot
from discord.ext import commands
import asyncio
client = commands.Bot(command_prefix="!")
#client.event
async def on_ready():
await client.change_presence(activity=discord.Activity(type=discord.ActivityType.watching, name='for moderation mail'))
print("Thunderbird is ready")
#client.event
async def on_message(message):
empty_array = []
modmail_channel = discord.utils.get(client.get_all_channels(), name="modmail-box")
if message.author == client.user:
return
if str(message.channel.type) == "private":
if message.attachments != empty_array:
files = message.attachments
await modmail_channel.send("<#" + message.author.id + ">: ")
for file in files:
await modmail_channel.send(file.url)
else:
await modmail_channel.send("<#" + str(message.author.id) + ">: " + message.content)
elif str(message.channel) == "modmail" and message.content.startswith("<"):
member_object = message.mentions[0]
if message.attachments != empty_array:
files = message.attachments
await member_object.send("**[MOD]** " + "**" + message.author.display_name + "**: ")
for file in files:
await member_object.send(file.url)
else:
index = message.content.index(" ")
string = message.content
mod_message = string[index:]
await member_object.send("**[MOD]** " + "**" + message.author.display_name + "**: " + mod_message)
client.run('No leaking here')
I am assuming that the error is on this line:
await member_object.send("**[MOD]** " + "**" + message.author.display_name + "**: ")
and member_object is coming from this block:
elif str(message.channel) == "modmail" and message.content.startswith("<"):
member_object = message.mentions[0]
if message.attachments != empty_array:
files = message.attachments
await member_object.send("**[MOD]** " + "**" + message.author.display_name + "**: ")
for file in files:
await member_object.send(file.url)
You are defining member_object as the first element in the message.mentions array, however your error of NoneType has no attribute suggests that there are no elements in that array and so member_object is actually equal to None not an instance of a class which has a send method.
You need to check your input to that function and ensure that when your code reaches that block it actually has the attributes that you are expecting
