PowerAutomate; Queued Aged Desktop Flows - power-automate

I have recently discovered the monitor flows screen within PowerAutomate (cloud) and noticed that there are some old desktop flows that are showing as queued but there is no direct option to cancel them
I have viewed the run history and can find the run, but there is no cancel option for this on the run of the desktop flow and the cloud flow runs were so long ago they do not show. Any one know how to cancel these, they have no real impact that I know of but it seems like good practice to not leave them queued forever
For context, they were set to run on a machine that died and the connections were changed to a new machine without issue and they continue to run fine

How to activate / enable the process notification feature in API Monitor?

API Monitor has a feature to automatically watch for a new process starting and ask if you want to monitor it. However I have not been able to get this to actually work. The only option in the program I can find which seems to be related is the File menu "Pause Process Notifications" option. However, this is disabled which gives me the impressions that it can't be turned off but also that it is supposed to work automatically "out of the box". But whenever I start a new process, nothing happens.
Specifically I'm referring to the feature described here:
Process Notification
API Monitor intercepts process creation and allows you to select the
process for monitoring. Each time a process is created by the system,
a notification window is displayed with options to monitor, skip or
terminate the process. This is especially useful for monitoring
processes with a short lifespan or processes that are automatically
launched in the background. Process Notification can also be used to
monitor applications such as consent.exe (UAC prompt), which run on a
different desktop.
The following screenshot shows an example of the Process Notification
window that is displayed when launching an application that requires
elevation
I've tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of API Monitor (Version 2.0 Alpha-r13) running both as regular user and as admin; makes no difference.
How can this feature be activated?
The specific reason I'd like to use this feature is that I have process A which starts process B, and it is B I need to monitor. A and B each run for only a few seconds so I can't manually get it to monitor fast enough.
Finally after reading through API Monitor forums I found some information. Unfortunately (for now at least) it seems the answer is that this feature no longer works (since Windows 8.1).

Due to security related changes in Windows 8.1, the Process
Notifications feature of API Monitor does not work. I will try to
resolve this issue as soon as possible and post a hotfix.
But a later update in 2014 indicated that it hadn't been fixed yet, and seems not to have been since then either.
It was implied that running in a Windows 7 (or 8.0?) virtual machine might be a workaround, or obviously finding another tool which has this capability.

UWP apps running background tasks when the app is closed

I want to run a background task for every 10 mins.As the UWP app will not always be opened.Is there a way to run a background task even when the app is closed(Not Running State)?

Is there any another way other than Windows Services?
You can create BackgroundTask which run at the most every 15 minutes not less than that in UWP apps. for more details you can check this source.

According to this document:
You can use background tasks to provide functionality when your app is
suspended or not running.
The 'not running' state in UWP is described in more detail here. It reads:
An app could be in this state because it hasn't been launched since
the last time the user rebooted or logged in. It can also be in this
state if it was running but then crashed, or because the user closed
it earlier.
This implies that the app simply needs to run once after installation to be able to successfully register a background task, which can then run even after your app is closed.

Not sure I'm interpreting this correctly but I assume you mean you want to run some bit of code every 10 mins while your app is not running. Well there are two way that I can think of to achieve this.
Method 1:
While background tasks are meant to be very short-lived tasks, they may even be made to run indefinitely if:
extendedBackgroundTaskTime capability is added as a restricted
capability in your app's manifest file
Using this technique along with a simple timer mechanism would achieve the desired result.
Method 2 (more complicated but keeps background tasks short-lived):
Setup a DatagramSocket to a remote server which sends some data every 10 mins and register your background task with a SocketActivityTrigger.

How to prevent Hudson from entering shutdown mode automatically or when idle?

After several months of successful and unadulterated continuous integration, my Hudson instance, running on Mac OSX 10.7.4 Lion, decides it wants to enter shutdown mode after every 20-30 minutes of inactivity.
For those of you familiar with shutdown mode, the instance of course doesn't shutdown, but has the undesirable effect (in this case) of stopping new jobs from starting.
I know I haven't changed any settings, so it makes me think the problem was slowly growing and keeps triggering shutdown mode.
I know there is plenty of storage space on the machine with 400+ GB to go so I'm wondering what else would trigger shutdown mode without actually using the Hudson web portal to manually do it.
As mentioned before, the problem also seems to be tied to inactivity. I tried creating a quick fix, which is a build job that does nothing every 5 minutes. It appeared to work at first, but after long periods of inactivity I will find it back in shutdown mode.
Any ideas what might be going on?
Solution: disable the thinBackup plugin

I figured this out by taking a look at the Hudson logs at http://localhost:8080/log/all
thinBackup was running every time the Hudson instance went into shutdown mode.
The fact that shutdown mode was occurring at periods of inactivity is also consistent with the behavior of thinBackup.
I then disabled the plug-in and Hudson no longer enters shutdown mode. What's odd is that thinBackup had been installed for some time before this problem starting occurring. I am seeking out a solution from thinBackup to re-enable the plugin without the negative effects and will update here if I get an answer.
According to this link, the thinBackup plugin puts Hudson into shutdown mode on purpose to do the backup activity. It is supposed to automatically come out of shutdown mode once it is done.
I saw this with some jobs that seemed to stall and never finish overnight, so Hudson never came out of shutdown mode because thinBackup must have been waiting on the jobs to finish.

Windows Task Scheduler will run app only once

So my situation is that I am running an app on the Windows Task Scheduler. This app is run once a day at 1pm. the app does some queries and transfers data to an FTP site. All that is working great except on the weekends when i am not here the app is run and the GUI is still displayed for me to review. This seems to make it stop running on the scheduler until I shut down the app. So on Saturday it will run and the app will remain displayed for me to review when I get back on Monday. but on Sunday when the scheduler attempts to run it again it will fail because the app has not been closed down.
First let me confirm that this is how the Task Scheduler is supposed to work. Second, what are my alternatives for scheduling to run every day and keep the GUI displayed so that I can review. The app can run multiple times as each session does not interfere with the other sessions. So if I'm gone for a week on vacation I would expect that when i get back that 7 instances of the app have been run and are waiting for my review.

Your best bet is to eliminate the UI and log messages to the Event Log or a log file. The UI could be spawned from the CLI as a separate process if you prefer, but it should be done so in as its own non-child process.
Alternatively, you could run a batch file instead of the process directly. In the batch file, invoke "START path_to_exe" instead of the EXE. That will cause the batch file to "finish" instantly, and the exe to be run in its own process. This is not a good long term solution, but will give you a temporary solution to your immediate problem.
This is the default behavior of the Scheduled Task system, as it doesn't know that the job is complete until the application actually exits. Therefore, if your application is still open after 24 hours, the next run will simply be skipped because the current run is "still going" as far as the scheduler is concerned.
Personally I would re-visit the way that you handle your job process, as your are setting up a scenario that will be hard to manage long term.
I recommend writing to a log file instead of displaying a UI for any output and/or errors. This way, the application can write, then exit, and you can review the log at your convenience. This is a very common solution for automated processes.

Why are my auto-run applications acting weird on Vista?

The product we are working on allows the user to easily set it up to run automatically whenever the computer is started. This is helpful because the product is part of the basic work environment of most of our users.
This feature was implemented not so long ago and for a while all was well, but when we started testing this feature on Vista the product started behaving really weird on startup. Specifically, our product makes use of another product (lets call it X) that it launches whenever it needs its services. The actual problem is that whenever X is launched immediately after log-on, it crashes or reports critical errors related to disk access (this happens even when X is launched directly - not through our product).
This happens whenever we run our product by registering it in the "Run" key in the registry or place a shortcut to it in the "Startup" folder inside the "Start Menu", even when we put a delay of ~20 seconds before actually starting to run. When we changed the delay to 70 seconds, all is well.
We tried to reproduce the problem by launching our product manually immediately after logon (by double-clicking on a shortcut placed on the desktop) but to no avail.
Now how is it possible that applications that run normally a minute after logon report such hard errors when starting immediately after logon?
This is the effect of a new feature in Vista called "Boxing":
Windows has several mechanisms that allow the user/admin to set up applications to automatically run when windows starts. This feature is mostly used for one of these purposes:
1. Programs that are part of the basic work environment of the user, such that the first action the user would usually take when starting the computer is to start them.
2. All sorts of background "agents" - skype, messenger, winamp etc.
When too many (or too heavy) programs are registered to run on startup the end result is that the user can't actually do anything for the first few seconds/minutes after login, which can be really annoying. In comes Vista's "Boxing" feature:
Briefly, Vista forces all programs invoked through the Run key to operate at low priority for the first 60 seconds after login. This affects both I/O priority (which is set to Very Low) and CPU priority. Very Low priority I/O requests do not pass through the file cache, but go directly to disk. Thus, they are much slower than regular I/O.
The length of the boxing period is set by the registry value:
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\DelayedApps\Delay_Sec".

The program probably needs some more info put into its properties. It needs to "Run As", instead of just running.
Maybe this application should be developed as a service, instead of a program to be launched, or you could have service that launches the program when its determined the best window of opportunity.
